Qustions and answers about guns in America (debate)

1. The moderator Lisa's first question to the members of the debate is: Why do people own guns?
Write down what Andrea, Maxwell, and Jessica believe is the reason for this.

Answer: Andrea believes that hunting, sportly issues, protection and violence is some of the main reasons to why, we have guns. Maxwell thinks, that one of the reasons, why men have guns, is so they fell more macho, harder and tuffer. He also says, that America is like a paranoid fat cat, who have a fear to be attacked, so they bye a gun.
Jessica means, that women have guns, because they are scared and feel powerless walking down the streets.

2. Jessica says that many Americans want to have a gun because of the media and films. Do you agree with Jessica? Why? Why not?

Answer: I agree, because I also think, that one of the reasons to why, we have guns, is because of movies and medias, and that it is a norm in USA. I maybe think, that it is because people want to be cool.

3. Rhajik talks a lot about the military when he is talking about guns. What does he say about the military and their need and use of guns?

Answer: He says, that the millitary have guns, because they would'nt be very effective, if they did'nt have any guns. He says, that the millitary protect lives, and having a gun is the lacy way to kill persons.

4. Maxwell names some facts about guns. Name at least one of them. Comment on the fact.

Answer: Maxwell says, that many many people are killed every year because of the handguns.
I think, that every gunshop should be closed, because it's too easy to get a gun. Normal people should'nt be able to get a gun.

5. Maxwell says that the reason why criminals have guns is because the citizens are armed. Do you think that is right? How do you think it is in Denmark?

Answer: I don't think, that it is right, that criminals have guns, because the citizens are armed. I think, it's the other way around: Citizens have guns, because the criminals are armed.
I don't think, that many citizens in Denmark have guns, because we have a very good gunlaw in Denmark.

6. What does Andrea think should be changed in America's gun law?

Answer: Andrea thinks, that there should be a waiting periode.

7. Rhajik says that power should be returned to the people, the individual. It should be totally legal to own guns. No one should rule. We should be responsible for our own lives. What do you think about this?

Answer: I think, that there should be rules, because if you have to decide on your own, it is easier to be criminal and kill persons just for small reasons. And it would be bad, if you just could by a gun, if you want to, because then people would be afraid walking down the streets and wouldn't know, if he or her has a gun.

8. In the end of the dabte, all the debate members are asked to say in short what they think about guns. Choose at least two of the members and write down their opinion.

Answer: Andrea says, that she is totally against guns, and if it was up to her, then there shouldn't be any guns in the world. She believes, that there needs to be education and waiting periodes. She also says, that we need to cut the amount of people who have guns, in half, so we can stop all the deaths, that are not needed.
Fritz says, that it is our freedom to choose to have a gun or not, and he supports, that we always should have the freedom to have arms.

9. Lisa ends the debate by giving the Americans an advice about guns. What does she say?

Answer: Lisa says, that if you have a gun, then think before you use it. Guns are many times an excuse for not to talk about things or think about something ahead of time. There are many other ways to solve problems than to kill.

10. Who do you agree with the most of the five members of the debate and why?

Answer: I think, that I agree with Andrea and Jessica most of the time, because they have many good oppinions. For example do they think, that there should be a waiting periode or a backgroundcheck, and they think that people should learn about the consequenses of using a gun.
